Water Ball Puzzle (don’t ask what water ball is, we will have to make it up!)

Ken, Kate, and Will got together for a round-robin Water Ball tournament (played in pairs), where, as usual, the winner stays on after each game to play the person who sat out that game. At the end of their Water Ball afternoon, Kate is exhausted, having played the last seven straight games. Ken, who is less winded, tallies up the games played:
